Build Sheet Bingo Illustrations

We rarely ever buy any Firebird model below a Trans Am, and this 1978 low-buck special provided my only base Firebird build sheet. This basic Firebird with practically no options is a good illustration of the following:
  • B82 Delete Body Ornament - It took a long time to find out which ornament this deleted, because they continued to use it after the B-pillar emblem was deleted. In fact, it may have changed. I feel pretty sure it was the trunk ornament, shown here, at least after 1978. Before that, it could have referred to the b-pillar emblem or this emblem or both.
  • B83 Rocker Panel Molding - Rocker Panel Moldings were used on Base Firebird and Esprit. The Firebird (shown here) used the Camaro's thin molding.
  • NK5 Standard Steering Wheel - This steering wheel was used only on the base Firebird model.
I just wish it had standard single chrome rear view mirror. I've never seen that on any Firebird.

N30 Deluxe Steering Wheel - Just for comparison, here's the deluxe steering wheel, which is coded N30. It has woodgrain around the edges (partly worn away on this example), and it was color coordinated.

Check out the silly pink brake pedal.
