Build Sheet Bingo Illustrations

These photos of an Esprit Redbird are from an eBay auction. They illustrate following build sheet codes:
  • W67 Esprit Model - A separate Firebird model with a few luxury options as standard equipment. Jim Rockford always drove them on TV. See also, What's an Esprit?
  • W68 Redbird Model - The Redbird appearance package for Esprits featured two-tone paint, gold pinstriping, red Snowflake wheels, red interior, and gold trim on all the emblems, dash, and steering wheel. See also, Hoghead's Ladybird Page
  • B96 Wheel opening moldings - Esprits came standard with wheel opening moldings. These photos don't show the moldings very well, but they're the only Esprit photos I have.

The Redbird had two sisters: A blue "Skybird" (W60) and a yellow "Yellowbird" (W73). They all featured the same basic format, with a highly color coordinated appearance package inside and out trimmed with emblems, decals, and pinstripes similar to a Special Edition Trans Am. They had very feminine bird decals, and if you've never seen one you should check out the decals reproduced by Stencils and Stripes . The Redbird is the prettiest of the three.

I really admire these cars for their visual impact and obvious girly side, which is a very strange combination for a car. I don't know of anything comparable ever made. They have little or no collector following. We've created a massive web page about them at Hoghead's Ladybird Page
